Situation

La casa sobre el arroyo is located in Argentina, in the city Mar del Plata, province of Buenos Aires.

The house-museum is built on a unification of two city blocks, at the intersection of  Matheu and Tomás Guido streets.

The land is in a natural state, and it has been declared an urban enviromental reserve and cultural landscape because of its biodiversity. It is home of different endemic species of fauna and flora characteristic of the local rural environment.

The stream Las Chacras crosses the property from south-west to north-east and it was totally respected in the construction, saving the house with a bridge type structure.

This creates an isolated space from the urban environment, visually and acoustiacally, thanks to the thick grove of trees around the house, with sounds of nature such as birdsong and the noise of the running water of the stream.

This is positive for Amancio Williams’ intention to build a house that would serve as a retreat for the Williams’ family where his father Alberto Williams could compose and rest.

However, some problems can be highlighted such as the difficulty of access by car to the house due to the flora of the park and the stream, and the discomfort generated by the presence of insects, specially mosquitoes, as the trees and the water of the stream make the area the perfect habitat for their proliferation
